CBS might just be the grounds of some mind-swapping action as the writers of
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and
Two and a Half Men switch roles for an episode. Although the network hasn’t confirmed yet, writers from the both shows have already expressed their excitement on the possibility.
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, an Emmy award-winning series produced by Carol Mendelsohn, is a drama that explores crimes and unusual deaths under the investigation of a Las Vegas forensic team. Its current cast includes
William Petersen,
Marg Helgenberger,
Gary Dourdan, and
George Eads among others. On the other hand,
Two and a Half Men is an Emmy-nominated sitcom created by Chuck Lorre. It centers on a freewheeling bachelor whose lifestyle is interrupted when his newly separated brother and his son moves in. The series stars
Charlie Sheen,
Jon Cryer, and
Angus T. Jones to name a few. Both
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and
Two and a Half Men are currently broadcast on CBS.
"I pitched to Carol Mendelsohn the idea that me and my guys on
Two and a Half Men write an episode of
CSI and they write an episode of
Two and a Half Men, " Lorre told the Canadian Press at the Banff TV Festival.
As for Carol Mendelsohn’s reaction, she hasn’t disregarded the idea.
"Chuck mentioned it, and my writers said 'we can be funny,' " Carol Mendelsohn said. "I just think it's an interesting idea."
In order for the crossover to commence, approval from CBS and actors from both
CSI and
Two and a Half Men have to agree.
"Obviously we have to speak to the actors, I mean, putting them at risk, the network has to be apprised," Chuck Lorre said. “I think it would be a great challenge. [
‘CSI' writers] could protect us from making errors that would hurt their franchise, and we'd tell them they can't kill Charlie."
