Nick Stokes

George Eads as Nick Stokes

Nick Stokes is portrayed by George Eads on the television series, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Nick grew up with six older siblings, and both of his parents were involved with law enforcement. His father used to be the state district attorney and is currently serving on the Texas State Supreme Court, while his mother has dedicated her entire adult life to working as a public defender. At the age of nine, he experienced something traumatic due to the actions of a replacement babysitter, and he would keep this incident a secret well into adulthood.

While he was in college, Nick bore witness to hazing, being a fraternity member himself. During the first three years following his graduation, Nick was employed with the Dallas police force. He then moved on to become part of the Dallas crime lab, after spending a year as a CSI level 1, he transferred to the Las Vegas crime lab, where he became part of the night shift crew. He is known for his expertise in hair and fiber analysis.

As a crime scene investigator, Nick has been known to take many of his cases to heart, but in the process of investigating, has shown much objectivity. He also has little difficulty dealing with other people, unlike his fellow CSI and friend, Sara Sidle. His dedication to the job is apparent, but his well-being has been tested a number of times due to the nature of his job. He once almost lost his life when he was abducted, buried alive in a glass coffin and made a host for numerous hungry fire ants. Since his abductor installed a camera inside the coffin, his fellow CSIs, most especially his good friend, Warrick Brown, tried their best to locate him and save his life. In another instance, he was flung out a second-story window by stalker Nigel Crane. In addition, he had his car stolen (along with the evidence inside it) and has been held at gunpoint several times.
