Melina Kanakaredes has been through a lot as Stella Bonasera on
CSI: NY. As the second-in-command and right-hand woman in the New York Police Department's crime lab, she has often put her life in peril, considering the risks of her work, not to mention her share of bad luck when it comes to men. Heading towards the rest of season 4, she'll be dealing with a lot more on her plate, as confirmed by the 40-year-old actress who portrays her.
When asked what will happen in with her character this season, Kanakaredes revealed, “She is being pursued by this mystery guy and he's pursuing her with a major vengeance. It's almost too much too fast. This poor girl just does not have the best luck with men. You have to stay tuned to see what happens. It's kind of an interesting twist and it ends up affecting more than just Stella. It could be very dangerous for somebody!”
Kanakaredes, whose been playing Stella since 2004, did some research about the nature of the show upon landing her role on
CSI: NY. She even went to various coroners' office and from there, she gathered bits and pieces of the strengths of real-life CSIs that would eventually make up the persona of her character.
“It was really interesting and it definitely gave me something to go on in creating Stella. Her strengths and yet her connection to the victim's families that are left behind, wanting to solve something for them and wanting to make sure they had closure. It was really a combination of all the people that I had met who do this for a living,” she told
Starry Constellation Magazine.
Meanwhile, here's what she has to say the solid supporters of the show that has proved to be a successful
CSI spin-off.
“Thank you so much! I hope to continue to keep you entertained and continue to surprise you with other things that I love doing,” the
CSI: NY actress said. “Thanks and keep watching!”
