Ever heard of the “healing powers” of the show
Dancing with the Stars? Many speculate that the popular celebrity dance show is some kind of makeover vehicle for “has been” celebrities, evident in the positive image transformation of its participants like
Jerry Springer and
Heather Mills among others. Once again, another participant of
Dancing with the Stars got a career jumpstart: former
Blossom actor
Joey Lawrence is set to guest star on an upcoming episode of
CSI: NY.
Lawrence, who ranked third place on
Dancing with the Stars season three, will appear on an episode of
CSI: NY on Wednesday, April 25 at 10 pm on CBS. In an interview with TV Guide, Lawrence dishes out on his valiant gig.
As an avid fan of the series, Lawrence was very intrigued to land a role opposite his idol,
Gary Sinise. He was also delighted with the nature of the character since he has never portrayed a killer before. He explained, “It's my first dark sort of role like that… I thought it was something that could be really cool. Playing opposite Gary Sinise, who I'm a huge fan of, was a great opportunity, and to play someone as dark as this was a lot of fun.”
On
CSI: NY, Lawrence plays a character named Clay Dobson, a killer who was once caught by Detective Mac Taylor, played by Gary Sinise, and is now set free. Determined to take his sweet revenge, Dobson sets up Taylor for a huge dramatic fall. He recounted, “Clay Dobson was caught by Mac five years ago and convicted of murdering five women. The cop who was going to testify to make sure I stayed in jail forever turned out to be a dirty cop, so Mac had to deal with the issue of, ‘Do I put this dirty cop away, or do I let him slide and keep Clay in jail?’ Of course he puts the cop away, losing their key witness, and then as soon as I get out of jail, these two bodies pop up, and they look similar [in their style of death/presentation], but with a twist. Mac tries to convince his superiors it's me, and I'm suing the department, so they're like, ‘Leave it alone.’"
Apart from his positive exposure on
Dancing with the Stars, another thing that got Lawrence the gig is his distinctly bald head, which is now working out to his advantage.
