Darn it, darn it, I should've seen it coming! While doing the episode preview for last week's episode of
CSI: NY, I managed to joke about Hawkes (
Hill Harper) being “accused” of killing the victim on the basis of both being a medical examiner at one point. But there lied the biggest twist of the episode. The victim wasn't an ME, but was the wife of a former ME. The former ME in question is Marty Pino (Jonah Lotan)—yes, the football jersey wearing guy who Sid (Robert Joy) fired because he was caught forging overtime slips.
If your backtracking hasn't switched itself on yet, then the wife is Anabel, the very person Sid wanted Marty to marry. Yes, my backtracking wasn't switched on while I was watching the episode; I easily forget things. Further history lesson: Marty was heavily into gambling and got himself a lot of debts, which eventually got him fired. Turns out he's the guy running the heroin thing made from human bodies—genius, this guy, collecting the drug from the livers and kidneys of other junkies. He did it in the lab, and he did it in a warehouse. I'm still hitting myself in the head.
The discovery would, of course, affect the team in many ways. Hawkes didn't believe it at first, Danny (
Carmine Giovinazzo) ended up reminiscing about his short stint with the team, and Sid—oh, it must really hurt trying to do an autopsy on the person you considered a close friend before. Sid eventually proved to be a clincher, almost single-handedly defusing a hostage situation that cropped up when a cornered Marty wanted to get his heroin back. I don't really remember Sid outside the lab, much more in a moving scene like that, and that just hits the point home—how things can go awfully, awfully wrong. I'm bleeding after hitting myself in the head.
But I'm still lucid enough to say one thing: Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz, both of you have been trumped.
Things would probably take a turn to the puzzling, trivial side in tonight's
CSI: NY, aptly titled “Communication Breakdown”—the sight of the title makes me sing a Spandau Ballet song aloud. (Communication bring me down…) Anyway, tonight, a Native American chief is shot inside a subway train, and the team find themselves struggling to figure out who did what, simply because all of their suspects are foreigners. A Puerto Rican? An Israeli? A Bulgarian? A Filipino? A Greek? What are the chances of that? Watch
CSI: NY marvel at the diversity of New York City tonight, from 10pm, on CBS. The photos? Right there.
I should start paying more attention next time.
