It definitely seems that the fine line between reality TV and scripted television is quickly disappearing as several reality celebrities have dipped their toes into the pool of primetime series. While Paris Hilton and Lauren Conrad opt to appear as themselves, some take on the challenge of actually playing a role and becoming an actor for a day. Chris Daughtry
, season 5 finalist of American Idol
, is no exception. In fact, the 28-year-old rocker from North Carolina will be appearing in the upcoming season of CSI: NY
, specifically its 100th episode.
People further reports that Daughtry will play a character named Machiavelli Taylor. Other guest stars this season include rapper Nelly, actor Scott Wolf, former NFL star Marshall Faulk, actress Julie Ormond and Rumer Willis, daughter of action star Bruce Willis and Demi Moore.
Meanwhile, Rumer Willis, who recently guest starred on Army Wives
, will be playing a role who shares a name with Gary Sinise
's Mac Taylor. She will come forward when the team investigates a serial killer who targets people with that particular name. Julia Ormond on the other hand will be playing a new detective, while Nelly will return as a confidential informant of the real Mac Taylor.
In other news, Daughtry was recently at the receiving end of a lawsuit filed against him and Apple's iTunes after an Arizona rock group named The Asphalt claimed that Daughtry's new single, “Feels Like Tonight,” is derivative from the Asphalt's “Tonight,” which frontman Randy Mazick claims he had written in 2005, a year before Daughtry released the CD containing “Feels Like Tonight.”
Some may see this as an attempt for the band to get famous, considering that Daughtry has earned his spot as the artist behind 2007's best selling album by selling as much as 3.2 million units. As of now, no resolution has been reached for this case. Nonetheless, fans can catch Daughtry as he appears on the 100th episode of CSI: NY
, which is slated to air on November 19.
