Khandi Alexander was born on September 4, 1957 in New York. Aside from being an actress, she is also a dancer and choreographer. In fact, she has appeared in Broadway and has even choreographed Whitney Houston's international tours. Currently, she plays Alexx Woods in the crime drama series CSI: Miami.

Alexx Woods aspired to become a doctor at a very young age. But in the course of her residency, she realized the bureaucratic nature of the medical world and decided to pursue another career. Eventually, she realized that a career in forensics suited her most. In this profession, she is able to help dead victims by speaking for them. Currently, she is the head of forensics in the new facility in Miami-Dade.
