Gameloft, the international publisher and developer of video games for mobile devices, has decided to join forces with CBS to launch the first ever mobile
CSI game with the release of
CSI: Miami. In line with the collaboration, the two companies are also eyeing a worldwide multi-year multi-game for the development, publishing and distribution of other games based on the
CSI franchise.
The team up, which is expected to be a long term partnership, aims to increase the supporters of
CSI as the primetime crime drama enters the world of gaming, making room for more expanded storylines and an interactive experience as well.
“A mobile game adaptation of a
CSI series is the perfect complement for a franchise with a fan base that watches the show with such a high level of engagement and interest in interactivity,” Anthony Zuiker, executive producer and creator of
CSI, said in a statement. “We are thrilled to join forces with Gameloft and are confident in their expertise to capture the essence of
CSI and translate it into a quality mobile game.”
Cyriac Roeding, executive vice president of CBS Mobile, describes the game as something much more than just a brand extension of the
CSI franchise given its “new quality level of cross-platform development.”
According to Gameloft, the new game allows users to submerge themselves deeply in the procedural drama as they check out crime scenes, collect evidence, conduct autopsies, and interrogate suspects just like the team of forensic scientists who serve the Miami-Dade Police Department.
The
Miami mobile game coincides with the season 6 premiere of the spin-off of the original
CSI series popularized by the team of forensic scientists consisting of Horatio Caine (
David Caruso), Calleigh Duquesne (
Emily Procter), and Eric Delko (
Adam Rodriguez), among others. It is now available in the United States and will soon be introduced in 140 countries in the coming months.
