CSI: Miami

Sofia Milos, who plays Det. Yelina Salas on the Emmy-winning CBS series CSI: Miami, will soon be the recipient of this year's Banff World Television Festival (BWTVF) Award of Excellence, a prestigious award that acknowledges exceptional achievement through a body of work over an extended period of time.  The award will be presented to the 38-year-old actress at the Alberta Film Awards Lunch on Monday, June 9.

"Sofia's expansive range as an actor has earned her international recognition and admiration," Jennifer Harkness, Executive Director, BANFF, said.  "We are delighted to have the opportunity to acknowledge this with the Award of Excellence."

In addition to CSI: Miami, Milos has gone up against some of the toughest guys in television in her role as Homeland Security Agent Blanca LaGarda on The Border.  She has also been cast to play a recurring role on The Sopranos as mob boss Annalisa Zucca where she went toe-to-toe with Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini).  Her other notable credits include Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Secret Lives of Men, Friends, and The Ladies Man, just to name a few.

Milos now joins the list of outstanding recipients of the Banff Television Award of Excellence including Carol Mendelsohn (2007), Gordon Pinsent (2004), David Chase (2003), Gary David Goldberg (2002), Norman Jewison (2001), Dick Wolf (2000), David E. Kelley (1999), Don Hewitt (1998), Diane English (1997) and Steven Bochco (1996).

"It is a great honour to be recognized by The Banff World Television Festival," the Miami actress said.  "I am thrilled to receive the Award of Excellence from an event that has truly been embraced by the international broadcast community."

Banff World Television Festival is among the most important international media events in Canada. The 29th edition of BWTVF will take place at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Alberta, Canada, from June 8 to 11.
