The strike-imposed break has
CSI: Miami star
David Caruso devoting more time to another worthy project. Apparently, the 52-year-old actor has co-founded Lexicon Digital Communications, a start-up company that aims to help internet users tackle with world wide web with much more ease.
“Lexicon is a solution-based company,” Caruso, who plays Horatio Caine on
CSI: Miami, told CNET's Kara Tsuboi from this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. “It'll have video distribution, advanced distributions solutions, original content, and also add simplification to the internet itself. The key for us is [not only] to take the pain and the time away from the process, but also to take this format and turn it into something very competitive.”
Working alongside David Caruso on this project is Nils Lahr, who helped found the wireless handheld camera system iBeam, and contributed greatly to the development of Windows Media streaming technology.
“In the world of technology, there are so many choices. It's a wonderful thing, but it can also be very detrimental,” Lahr said. “One of the things that we're really trying to encapsulate is how… we can turn the tables a little bit, where you're not using all your efforts to go get things. How can we try to bring things to you. And there's some technologies that can help with that.”
Trying hard not too give too much away, David Caruso added, “One of the things we can talk about is a competitive level of content. We're [going to] be able to do that to a more advanced degree.”
As of now, not much can be seen on the product website, apart from a short music video featuring the
CSI: Miami star and links to various sites, including the one for the hit show. Caruso said that consumers can expect their product to be ready within a year.
