csi: miamiOn tonight's CSI: Miami, someone will attempt to kill one of the key players of the Miami-Dade Police Department forensic division, putting both her professional and personal life at risk in the episode entitled “Stand Your Ground.”

Warning: May contain spoilers.

In the ninth episode of season 6, fans will see Calleigh Duquesne (Emily Procter) in the brink of death as she finds herself in a very unfortunate incident.  Just when she was about to get inside her Lexus after enjoying a drink or two, a Pontiac GTO brushes against her side mirror and the annoyed ballistics specialist soon discovers that a gun barrel is pointed at her face.

The unidentified man who is holding the gun orders Calleigh to turn off her car engine.  Trying to remain calm, Calleigh tries to reach for her gun instead of turning the car off and pulls it out bit by bit.  When he insists again for her to turn the car off, she quickly points her own gun at him and announces that she is a police officer.

The driver of the GTO rushes off as the car knocks Calleigh's gun from her hand and thrusts it down the street.  Still traumatized, Calleigh tries to retrieve her gun and puts it away before she reaches for her phone.  On the other hand, she sees the roaring GTO heading back straight for her just when she was about to make a call to report the incident.  Pressured to make a decision, she pulls out her gun as the car speeds toward her and pulls the trigger.

Shortly, she finds out that the man who held the gun to her head is gone and discovers something beneath the car.  She realizes that she has killed a woman and remains in a state of shock and distress as Horatio (David Caruso) and Tripp (Rex Linn) make their way to the scene.  The corpse is eventually identified as a middle school teacher named Valerie Gaynor.

Rick Stetler is forced to look into Calleigh's conduct, given that she fired unnecessarily and that she had consumed alcohol prior to the incident.  But as the Miami team digs deeper into the case, they soon find out that there is more to the encounter than just a mere twist of fate.

CSI: Miami also stars Adam Rodriguez (Eric Delko), Alexx Woods (Khandi Alexander), Jonathan Togo (Ryan Wolfe), and Eva LaRue as Natalia Boa Vista.

CSI: Miami airs tonight at 10pm ET/PT on CBS.
