With a post-strike return scheduled for Monday, March 24, CBS'
CSI: Miami is one of the first shows that will be back on air with fresh episodes. In order to meet the early return date, the show has been hard at work for two weeks now.
"It feels pretty good," series star
David Caruso, who plays Horatio Caine told
ET at the set. “I think it was obvious it was time to come back to work, the audience was beginning to miss us. They said, 'We love the re-runs but enough.' It's time for some fresh run of episodes."
David Caruso's co-stars shares his sentiments, although actress
Emily Procter, known for portraying Calleigh Duquesne on CSI: Miami, admitted that she didn't mind the rather long strike-imposed hiatus too much.
“I have to say there was something really nice about having a large break in the center,” the 39-year-old actress revealed, adding that she used the extra time to do some personal shopping and design a friend's house in St. John.
David Caruso also made good use of the unexpected break by focusing on his new digital project, Lexicon, which is currently still in development. He, however, noted that his top priority remains his family, which includes girlfriend Liza Marquez and their two young children, Marquez Anthony and Paloma Raquel.
Another
CSI: Miami co-star,
Khandi Alexander, meanwhile, said she used her extra time to perform on stage and to catch up with her friends. The 50-year-old actress, who appears on the show as Dr. Alexx Woods, also said that she's very thankful to see that the entire crew is back to work with them.
“It's no nice to have all of our crew back,” she told
ET. “I was worried that we would lose people, but that's the joy. We have
all of our crew back. We're so grateful.”
CSI: Miami is returning with eight new episodes, all of which must be shoot in a mere seven weeks.
“It's going to be such a run and gun," Procter said of their tight post-strike work schedule.
