Born on March 28, 1975 in Providence, Rhode Island, Shanna Lynn Moakler is of Portuguese and Irish descent. Upon graduating high school and leaving a tomboyish childhood life behind her, she moved to Miami to pursue a modeling career, which led her to New York City and Los Angeles. When she was 17 years old, Moakler was given the chance to represent Rhode Island in the 1992 Miss Teen USA pageant. Three years later, she represented New York in the Miss USA pageant, consequently becoming the first-runner up to Miss USA herself. When Miss USA Chelsi Smith was crowned the winner in that year's Miss Universe, the Miss USA crown was passed on to Moakler. Her television career started a year later, when she appeared in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and Due South. Her first major television role was as Officer Monica Harper in Pacific Blue, where she became a regular cast. In 2007, she served as a judge for The CW's Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants. Moakler previously dated Oscar de la Hoya, with whom she had a daughter with. The two broke up after she filed a $62.5 million palimony case against him. She dated Dennis Quaid before she settled down with Travis Barker formerly of Blink 182, whom she married in 2004. They divorced in August 2006, despite having two children together. Since then, the couple have tried to be good friends and good parents to their children, despite the separation.
Shanna Moakler serves as one of three judges in The CW's Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants, a reality competition which sets up teams of mother-daughter tandems against each other to compete for the ultimate prize of $100,000 and a pretty pair of tiaras. Beauty and brains are required in this competition that serves a whole lot of fashion and flair in one neat serving.
