Tuesday, July 17, 2007

crossing jordan"Smart, eccentric, intuitive, and lovable," was the description given by actor Ken Howard regarding his character Max Cavanaugh on the crime-drama series Crossing Jordan.  As a seasoned police officer, he was forced into early retirement after he took the law into his own hands. Even with his reputation as a disgraced cop, he frequently served as a helping hand to daughter Dr. Jordan Cavanaugh (Jill Hennessy) in exploring murder investigations.  Despite his disappearance on the show, Howard remains to be seen on television and in the big screen with numerous impending projects.

Approaching this September is CBS’ new TV pilot Cane, which explores the rivalry of two multi-generational Latin American families, the Duques family and the Samuels family.  On the drama series, Howard plays the role of Joe Samuel, joining Jimmy Smits (L.A. Law, NYPD Blue), and Hector Elizondo (The Princess Diaries) among others.

On October 5, Ken Howard will star alongside George Clooney (Batman and Robin, Ocean’s Eleven) in director Tony Gilroy’s Michael Clayton.  The thriller plot follows an in-house “fixer” as he struggles to take care of the dirtiest work at one of the largest corporate law firms in New York while he deals with his personal life.

Also coming up this year is his movie Still Waters, a thriller about a young married couple who encounters a stranger who threatens their marriage.  He plays the role of Conrad, along with Jason Clarke (Brotherhood) and Lake Bell (Boston Legal).

In the film Smother, Howard takes on the role of Gene Cooper in a comedic plot about a guy who is fired from his job only to discover more complications in his life.  Humor sink in as he faces pressures from his wife, who wants to have a baby, and his mother, who has moved in with him. The movie is directed by Vince Di Meglio and is set to hit the theaters this year.

Prior to his acquisition of the aforementioned projects, Ken Howard appeared as a guest star on television series like The Office as Ed Truck, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as Dr. Arlen Rieff, and Ghost Whisperer as Judge Merrick.

Regardless of his short-lived three-season stint on Crossing Jordan, Ken Howard will be distinctly associated for the phrase "Who do you want to be: killer or victim?, and will be remembered for the eerie role playing game that helped filter out clues to many crimes on the show.
