Mike Myers Talks About Role in 'Inglorious Bastards'
Quentin Tarantino’s decision to cast Mike Myers into his latest film, Inglorious Bastards, has raised quite a few eyebrows.  The film, which has yet to begin production, already boasts of a curious mix of stars: Brad Pitt, Simon Pegg and Eli Roth are just some.  Myers, on the other hand, is fresh off the crash of his last film The Love Guru, which was panned by critics and performed short of sales expectations.  Then again, it’s still a Quentin Tarantino film, and judging by his past works, he’s had the tendency to grab slumping actors and catapult them again to prominence.

Myers finally talked about his role in the upcoming film, which revolves around prisoners who seek revenge against their Nazi captors.  He plays Ed Fenech, a British general who devises of a plan to take on the Nazis.  The role, however, was something he did not expect.  “I can't believe I got the call, to be honest with you,” he said in a recent interview.  “It's one of those unbelievable, magical calls that you get.”

The role, and the opportunity to appear in a war film, excites him.  “I get to be in a World War II movie, which has been my goal since I think I was, like, 6 years old,” he said.  “And I get to play one of those brainiac British generals.”  He is also thrilled to be finally able to work with Tarantino, whose films include Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill.  “Our conversations are supposed to be, like, 20-minute check-ins, and we end up speaking for three hours just about different films that we love,” he revealed.  “He is amazing.  He has such a complete vision of how he wants it to go.  I feel like I am a tube of paint in his painting, and it is a very beautiful feeling.”

Filming is slated to begin this month, and if things go as planned, Inglorious Bastards will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next year before being given a wide theatrical release.
