Criminal Minds is back! The perpetrator-profiling crime-solving series returns tonight with its first new episode since the resolution of the writers' strike. As an added treat, tonight's installment features a special guest from one of the most popular cult shows of the late `90s.
Criminal Minds was among the first programs back at work immediately after the scribes returned from their hundred-day picket. Cast and crew were back in production a mere three days after the end of the impasse. They are scheduled to complete a total of seven new episodes for this current third season, before going on a short break, and then returning to work anew to do a whopping 27 installments for next season.

"We're gonna blow out of the gate with three or four surprises. We're going to use these seven episodes to really set up next season,” executive producer Edward Allen Bernero promises.
Tonight's episode entitled “Damaged” revisits an old case that has remained unsolved, haunting new team lead, David Rossi (
Joe Mantegna), these past 20 years. This first original post-strike script offers Mantegna an excellent opportunity to further win over
Criminal Minds viewers, many of whom still haven't gotten accustomed to him stepping in for the uniquely brilliant
Mandy Patinkin as Jason Gideon in the first two seasons.
In tonight's “Damaged,” the BAU helps Rossi look into the long-unsolved case of the bizarre murder of two young parents. Written and directed by Bernero himself, “Damaged” also celebrates the return of
Nicholas Brendon to primetime TV, as one of tonight's guests in the role of Kevin Lynch.
Brendon, best known to the public as the dorky male sidekick/monster magnet, Xander Harris, on
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, offers some comic relief in tonight's installment. His character will provide an interesting romantic angle to the team's nerdy Penelope Garcia (
Kirsten Vangsness).
Don't miss the return of all-new
Criminal Minds with “Damaged” tonight at 9 on CBS.
