
In last week's season premiere of
Criminal Minds, which won its time slot in almost all key categories, we saw how the BAU team responded to the aftermath of the terrorist bombing in New York City. We also witnessed how the team fought to save their colleagues and tried to catch the terrorists responsible for the mayhem. While it was revealed that Kate Joyner was the agent critically, and eventually fatally, injured by the exploding SUV, Hotchner didn't escape the tragedy scratch-free. In fact, Hotch will be struggling his depression as the police procedural drama heads further into the fourth season.

"In the aftermath of Kate's death, Hotch will ignore medical advice and continue to work with his post-explosion injuries, putting himself in danger of permanent injury," executive producer Ed Bernero told TVGuide.com. "The team will then slowly realize that Hotch is working almost non-stop, and begin to worry further about his health."
Fans will learn more about what Bernero is talking about In the second episode of the fourth season called “The Angel Maker,” in which the BAU team must investigate the connection between a serial killer who was executed a year ago and the series of murders that have occurred recently.
Patrick St. Esprit (Sheriff Merrill Dobson), Lauren Bowles (Chloe Kelcher), Blake Lindsley (Shara Carlino), Pat Destro (Sela Dobson), Megan Molloy (Delilah Grennan), Gillian Brashear (Dr. Renee Turner) and Neil Hopkins (Angel Maker) join the cast as guests.
