Let's see how this goes, folks. Forest Whitaker, the
confirmed lead of the
Criminal Minds spin-off
(tentatively titled
Minds 2.0), is set to make his first foray into the
Criminal Minds universe on the upcoming episode of the CBS show next
month.

The appearance is seen to sort of gauge how the audience will receive Whitaker as the head of a separate group of BAU operatives, which will be the focus of the spin-off.
On "The Fight" the original BAU team travels to San Francisco to investigate the murders of several homeless men and teams up with a separate group of BAU operatives who are working another case they think is connected.
Whitaker, who recently dropped out of a Jekyll and Hyde remake opposite 50 Cent, will play Sam Cooper, the head of the group with a "sketchy" past.
The backdoor pilot that will introduce
Minds 2.0 will most likely take place in May, as was the case with the
NCIS and
CSI franchises.
Beau Garrett has
confirmed to play Gina, a thirty-ish woman who escaped the streets of Baltimore, only to end up being sent back to them as an undercover agent. After her father died, she quit the FBI until Cooper re-recruited her.
Whitaker, 48, is no stranger to the procedural/police genre, having played Lieutenant Jon Kavanaugh on the FX series
The Shied in seasons 5 and 6.
