The writers' strike has sadly left CBS with a nearly empty cupboard of fresh episodes and continues to take its toll on one of the highly rated series of the network,
Criminal Minds. As previously reported, the network has made some substitutions in its scheduling broadcast, replacing several new episodes of the crime drama with some reruns.
Most recently, the network aired a rebroadcast of the third season's “About Face” episode on December 19, 2007 instead of the first-run “3rd Life,” which is the 11th episode of the season. Four weeks after airing the 10th episode “Birthright,” CBS finally sets the date of the deferred episode of
Criminal Minds.
“3rd Life” is now expected to air next week on January 9. This installment follows the Behavioral Analysis Unit as they attempt to profile a serial killer responsible for the abduction of two teens. Pressure is on the team as one of the missing teens is found murdered, while her best friend remains missing. The special agents must take action and identify the killer's motivations and pinpoint his emotional triggers in order to catch him before it's too late.
Part of what's makes this episode highly anticipated is the fact that Gina Mantegna, daughter of
Criminal Minds actor
Joe Mantegna, guest stars as Lindsey, one of the missing teenagers. Gina is credited for her roles in
Uncle Nino, Unaccompanied Minors and
In the Land of Women.
In the meantime, fans will have to endure a rebroadcast of “Profiler, Profiled” for tonight's episode of
Criminal Minds. This is the installment from season 2 in which Derek Morgan (
Shemar Moore) is arrested for murder in his hometown of Chicago. The BAU attempts to clear his name. However, the team realizes that he's hiding something when he objects to the team's digging into his past.
Criminal Minds airs every Wednesday at 9pm ET/PT on CBS.
