Good news and bad news. The good news is, AJ Cook has confirmed via Twitter that she will indeed return to
Criminal Minds this fall. The bad news, the return promises to be mighty brief: two episodes, just to wrap up JJ's storyline.
CBS Stands By 'Minds' Decision, Fans Wage Folders and Lipstick Campaign"Thanks for your undying support but it's a done deal," she
posted on Thursday. "I'll be doing 2 episodes to wrap up JJ. Excited for what's next and hope you'll come along!"
Fellow
Minds cast shakeup victim Paget Brewster has also confirmed returning to the show. She has finalized a deal to be back next season for "a significant number of episodes," an insider tells
Entertainment Weekly. The season will reportedly also be her last on the show.
To address the serious dearth of the female kind on the series,
Criminal Minds is reportedly going on with its plan of adding a new female agent when it returns for its sixth run this fall. Casting is reportedly underway.
The number of signatories in the
petition against the CBS decision to not renew Cook's contract has reached 43,000 signatures. Over 30,000 meanwhile have expressed support for the
Lipsticks and Folders Campaign.
It has not been discussed if JJ's storyline will be open-ended, raising the possibility of her return in the future, or something conclusive, shutting that door forever.
