Since her stint on long-running comedy Friends, fans of Courtney Cox have not really seen much of her, notwithstanding her starring role as cynical tabloid editor Lucy on Dirt which ran for two seasons.  Soon, however, 44-year-old Cox will back on the small screen for yet another starring role: this time, as a 40-year-old recent divorcee who's trying to spice up her dating life after a failed marriage and a sarcastic 17-year-old son.

On Cougar Town, Cox plays Jules Cobb, a successful Florida career woman in real estate who has a non-existent love life.   "There comes a time in every woman's life when she has to take a long, hard look in the mirror and ask herself, 'What the hell is that?' For me, that time has come... Lately, I've been feeling like I'm gonna shriveled up and die if I just don't get out there and start doing things."  With the help of good friend Elle (Christa Miller), she decides to take the plunge five months after the divorce. Her new yard sign, for one, were spiced up by Elle that surprisingly made a fan base for Jules.

Next door, meanwhile, is fellow recent divorcee Grayson (Josh Hopkins) whose periodic goofing off with "sorority girls" starts irking Jules.

Cougar Town also stars Busy Philipps, Ian Gomez, and Brian Van Holt.  The upcoming ABC comedy was created by Bill Lawrence, the guy behind Scrubs, where Cox appeared recently in a three-episode arc as Dr. Taylor Maddox.  A cougar, of course, is an older lady who prowls on younger guys.  Additionally on Cougar Town, cougar is also the mascot of the local high school.
