When little
Madison Pettis of Disney Channel's
Cory in the House first auditioned for a role on the Disney film,
The Game Plan, her thoughts were all about getting her first movie audition and not of the towering man she was asked to act with. According to the nine-year old, she didn't even know who Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was.
Since being cast as The Rock's onscreen daughter in the film which opens on Friday,
Cory in the House's first daughter has become a fan of the wrestler-turned-actor's gentle demeanor.
''They had me audition with Dwayne twice, and when I first saw him I thought, 'He's kind of big and tall,'” Pettis recalled. “I've never seen his movies because they're all PG-13 and R, so he wasn't like a big celebrity to me. He's just like a normal guy to me. All of my scenes are with Dwayne. He always called me 'honey,' ever since I first met him. He'd say, 'You're doing such a great job, honey.' He was sweet even back then.''
Pettis and her gentle giant co-star have since become good friends. The two were reunited recently, when The Rock made special back-to-back guest appearances on two of Disney Channel's regular programs. In what was billed “The Rock Block,” Johnson guest-starred in
Cory in the House and
Hannah Montana last Friday night.
According to Pettis, she will be all tied up with filming for the majority of the scheduled 30
Cory in the House episodes for the second season. As of just a little over a week ago, Pettis said they've only shot about 10 of those 30 installments. She figures the remaining ones will keep her busy and occupied all the way till April of next year.
Cory in the House season 2 is set to begin in November.
