Constantine is headed to your television screens Fridays this Fall on NBC. The story is based on the Hellblazer comic book series from DC Comics and follows Constantine (Matt Ryan) as he fights evil and protects the innocent.

Not all titles featured on BuddyTV are available through Amazon Prime.

At San Diego Comic-Con, Executive Producers Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer and stars Charles Halford and Angelica Celaya spoke to reporters about Constantine, the introduction of Zed, Chas' abilities and much more.

Interview with EPs Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer

Highlights from the interview:

  • Zed shows up in episode 2. She's a character from the comic books, but she'll be introduced within first few episodes.
  • She has supernatural abilities and has an interesting backstory. They will be faithful to the comic books.
  • "Constantine is a bull shit artist" and Zed's someone who can call him out. She will be an adversary and possible love interest.
  • Constantine "is so much fun to write for ... he's a blast to write for."
  • Constantine is described as "a street wise warlock," "a scrapper," "a supernatural grifter," and he was in a punk band.
  • To get out of a situation, he will try magic, kicking ass and then a con. If none of those work, "he'll run."
  • The source material for season one is American Gothic Swamp Thing.
  • Papa Midnite will be showing up.
  • Constantine will have many foes. Some are supernatural and some are not.
  • A map will be a guide in the beginning and then there will be a reason that it won't be. It's a tool which will help introduce the story and characters.
Interview with Charles Halford (Chas)

Highlights from the interview:

  • Chas has certain survival skills which will be revealed over time.
  • Chas gets beat up a lot.
  • "The thrills and spills just get bigger and better each week. There is also a lot of fun and humor that comes out of it."
  • John evolves each week and the characters will be revealed, including Zed.
  • John and Chas are really old friends. "Chas doesn't really take any crap from John. John throws a lot of crap at him."
  • "John is a reluctant hero" who needs to be motivated. Chas pokes him, keeps him on task and keep John from blowing it all off.
  • Halford hasn't seen the movie in its entirety.
  • The map is a "loose guide" that Liv "bled for." Chas holds John to task since she bled for it. The story builds from the map.
  • Zed's skills help guide the fight as well. They won't "pick a dot and go to that" regarding with the map.
  • Halford is familiar with the comics. He's still reading them.
Interview with Angelica Celaya (Zed)

Highlights from the interview:

  • Zed "is insane. She's going nuts. She has these things in her head that will not let her rest."
  • There's something that "won't let her live one day without Constantine." She knows by her senses what Constantine is doing. He can't hide from her.
  • Zed will not have white streaks in her hair initially. They could "evolve" as the series goes on.
  • Portraying Zed and doing a comic book show let's her go back to being like a kid.
  • She approaches the character by adding her own interpretation rather than taking straight from the page. She feels that's more "honest."
  • Constantine is more tied to reality than some other comic book shows and movies. No capes.
Constantine premieres Friday, October 24 at 10pm ET on NBC.
