If you either (1) like Joel McHale on The Soup or (2) miss Chevy Chase, then Community is the show for you.  The upcoming NBC comedy not only marks the return of SNL original Chevy Chase, it is also McHale's, 37, first foray into scripted television after being a regular on The Adam Carolla Show and Mickey and Amelia Show, on top, of course, of his weekly slaughtering of television's worst on E!'s The Soup.

Set to debut during the fall, Community follows Jeff (McHale), a lawyer who has to go back to school when the state bar suspended his license when his college degree was "less than legitimate."  Chase, meanwhile, will play another student in the community college who has been married five times. The plots would normally revolve around the community college - "loser college, remedial teens, 20-something drop-outs, middle-age divorcees, and old people keeping their minds active as they circle the drain of eternity."

Community - "a smart comedy about higher education and lower expectations" - also stars Gillian Jacobs as "hot girl from Spanish class" Britta, Chase as Pierce Hawthorne, Donald Glover as Troy, Alison Brie as Annie, Yvette Nicole Brown as Shirley, and Danny Pudi as Abed.  The eccentric bunch all meet in a mock Spanish study group, after Jeff pretends to be a board-certified tutor while hitting on Britta.

"We're incredibly excited about our new and returning series and have more comedy programming than anyone else, as well as two of the most buzzed about new shows, Community and Parenthood.  We can't wait for the fall," said Ben Silverman, Co-Chairman, NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios.

McHale, of course, is best known for his weekly comedy show The Soup, where he satirically takes on the ridiculous scenes that throughout that week on television.
