Meredith Baxter has always been known for playing quintessential TV mom on Family Ties. But recent events (The National Enquirer recently printed pictures of her and her partner on a lesbian cruise) have forced the 62-year-old actress to make a life-altering decision and tell the world that she is in fact a lesbian mom.


During an interview with Matt Lauer on the Wednesday episode of the Today show, Meredith Baxter publicly came out of the closet, leaving some fans shocked considering Baxter, formerly Meredith Baxter Birney, has five children ranging from 20s to 40s, and has been married three times.



Now, Meredith Baxter, who most recently appeared in a recurring capacity on Cold Case as Ellen Rush and provided the voice of Elyse Keaton on Family Guy, is in a four-year relationship with building contractor Nancy Locke. They've been living together for two years.

"I feel like I'm being honest for the first time," Meredith Baxter told People.

Before telling the world about her new-found sexuality, Baxter first confided in her five kids. Luckily, her son Peter's reaction was very reassuring, just like that of his supportive siblings.   
"I just couldn't stop smiling because she finally figured it out," 25-year-old Peter said.

Aside from her immediate family, Baxter's co-stars on Family Ties have also been very supportive of her revelation.
