cold caseKathryn Morris is getting rewarded for leading Cold Case, one of the steadiest ratings performers of CBS.  The 38-year-old actress, who plays Philadelphia homicide detective Lilly Rush on the series, is getting a raise for the upcoming season.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, she will now be earning between $180,000 and $190,000 per episode.

Aside from getting an increase in salary, Morris' new deal also includes a production venture.  Just like Anthony LaPaglia, star of another CBS crime drama series, Without A Trace, Morris will also be setting up her own production company at Warner Bros.  TV, which produces Cold Case with Jerry Bruckheimer TV and CBS Paramount.  This enables the studio to have the first crack at the projects her company develops.

Created by Meredith Stiehm, Cold Case is an hour-long procedural drama that centers on a police division that specializes in investigating old and unsolved crimes.  Apart from Morris, the cast includes Danny Pino (Det. Scotty Valens), John Finn (Lt. John Stillman), Thom Barry (Det. Will Jeffries) and Jeremy Ratchford (Det. Nick Vera).  The series goes into syndication on TNT this fall, along with the premiere of season 5 on September 23 at 9pm ET on CBS.

With the return of Cold Case on television, Morris will attempt to spice up her character to make her sexier and edgier.

"I feel like Lilly has gotten bogged down in the last few years.  I started to worry whether she's going to make it. ... I'd like her to be more than this feminist icon, more like real women I know.  She needs to go to the movies, have a friend. ... Lilly became more of a bitch on board in the third season, and that's kind of a drag," Morris said referring to her character who was a victim of a gunshot on last season's ender.
