Adam Baldwin, unrelated to the famous Baldwin brothers, was born February 27, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois. He got his start in Hollywood when legendary actor/producer/director, Robert Redford cast him in his Academy Award-winning film, Ordinary People. Baldwin has worked steadily in high-profile movies and television shows since. His film credits include Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket, Wyatt Earp, Independence Day and The Patriot. Jayne Cobb, played by Adam Baldwin on
Firefly , is a mercenary currently aboard Serenity. A typical muscle for hire, Jayne's loyalty is chiefly to himself and no one else. He joined Captain Reynolds' crew basically because Malcolm offered him a better deal than what he was getting. His role on the Serenity staff is to help haul its various merchandise and fend off any unsavory characters they encounter along the way.
