The annual Paley Festival keeps chugging along down in Los Angeles. We told you about the
Pushing Daisies panel earlier this week, and today we're going to fill you in on last night's
Chuck panel, featuring the cast and creative minds behind NBC's hit freshman dramedy (I know lots of you hate the term “dramedy” and I only use it to anger you. So, you're welcome). Though
Chuck isn't coming back with any new episodes this season, the team is preparing for a full slate starting in Fall 2008, and production is set to begin in May.
Interestingly,
Lost co-show runner Damon Lindelof moderated the panel. Mus be a fan of the show. The panel consisted of:
Zachary Levi (Chuck),
Yvonne Strahovski (Sarah),
Joshua Gomez (Morgan),
Adam Baldwin (Casey), Scott Krinsky (Jeff), Mark Christopher Lawrence (Big Mike), Julia Ling (Anna), Ryan McPartlin (Captain Awesome), Vik Sahay (Lester), Josh Schwartz (show runner and co-creator), Chris Fedak (co-creator), and McG (executive producer and pilot director).
Sarah Lancaster could not attend – she was sick.
Originally, Chuck was going to be put in a love triangle with Sarah and a steady girlfriend. That probably would have been a little too much for Chuck to handle.
The initial title of the show was going to be
Scenario 5. That would have been an awful name.
The whole gang will once again make an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con to preview season 2.
For season 2, there will be some brand new characters and some new villains. Josh Schwartz said that the actor he'd most like to get to play a villain would be Jean-Claude Van Damme. That would be awesome.
The writers room officially got to work yesterday and began hashing out season 2. Let's hope the
Chuck team builds on the momentum of its successful and well-received first season.
Are you excited for Chuck: Season 2?
