Last night's episode of Chuck was deemed special for several reasons. Not only did we see the return of Jeffster and find out which character discovers Chuck's secret spy life, we also got a taste of Zachary Levi's directorial debut.
"Chuck vs. the Beard," the ninth episode of
Chuck's third season, featured Chuck struggling with his spy life after discovering that he can't flash. Shaw (guest star Brandon Routh), Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) and Casey (Adam Baldwin) decided to leave Chuck behind for a mission, putting Chuck in a sticky situation back at the base.
Check Out More Spoilers for Chuck's Third Season"I was really blessed. ... I felt like I got a really great episode," Zachary Levi said of Monday's episode. "I get to work with these guys all the time, and I know them to know their characters inside and out better than anyone else does. So you don't really have to say much, just kind of let them do what they do -- and they do it so well. I would only come in if there was, like, a pacing thing [or] if it was a timing thing. ... But everyone brings their A game all the time. That's why I love and respect them so much."
The Scoop on the Season 3 FinaleBut Levis wasn't the only one who was pleased with "Chuck vs. the Beard." Cast member Josh Gomez (Morgan) had nothing but nice things to say about the episode and his co-star who went behind the cameras for the first time.
"It was so cool to have Zach get that episode," Gomez said. "I think it's an important episode in the show. And it's just a great job. It's not an easy to show to direct -- we've made quite a few men and women bald, I think, with it. ... We have a fantastic crew that also was just so behind Zach, which was really cool to see. If there's anybody who understands the show, you know, no on else spends more time on those sets besides Zach and our crew."
