After a mostly successful solo misch (that's mission for the rest of us), Chuck has given himself agent status. Level up! Shaw's out on a super secret mission, but with a large sum of money transferring from an off-shore Ring account to a civilian account, the General wants to know what the money's for. Cue Manoosh Depak, a trained computer engineer that dropped out of MIT after his freshman year. Or what Casey calls a "classic geek tragedy". Clever. Now it's Agent Bartowski's job to develop him as an asset and to find out what he's doing for the Ring. Chuck confidently surmises that he'll have it done by lunch, but me thinketh it won't be that easy.
After coming on a little strong and essentially forcing Manoosh to do some shoplifting, Casey and Sarah coach Chuck into getting Manoosh to trust him. Thanks to a nacho sampler, some beers, Sarah's feminine wiles (wrapped in a "frak off" cropped tee), and a tranquilizer dart, they manage to drag Manoosh out of the restaurant before the Ring guys get to him.
The next morning, Manoosh awakens to a face massage by Sarah's feet. Gross, but Manoosh likey. He's about ready to spill his secrets to her, but he wants to have sexy time first so he'll be able to remember it. Thankfully, Casey (aka Tranq-enstein) tranqs him before things go any further. In a daze, he calls Chuck to ask about the briefcase he left at the restaurant, and they make plans to meet at the Buy More. But before Chuck heads off, they open the briefcase to find a mysterious red object that Casey takes to examine further.
As soon as Chuck gives the briefcase without the red object back to Manoosh, he feels guilty about leaving Manoosh at the mercy of the Ring. Soon enough, the Ring corners Manoosh into giving them their weapon. Low and behold, the red object was nothing but a decoy, and the real weapon is Manoosh thanks to a homemade Intersect built into a pair of sunglasses. He beats up the Ring cronies inspiring bewildered looks from Chuck and the gang.
Manoosh drives away, but Sarah discovers that he has booked a trip to Dubai for Weap-Con, the greatest weapon convention in the world. Casey's obviously excited. And he gets to write it off as a business trip! Win-win.
In Dubai, bikini girls with guns and angry looking men fill the venue. All Casey wants to do is shop, but Sarah's not having it. Eventually, they find Manoosh giving an inspired demonstration on his weapon called, wait for it, the Interspecs. Okay, I just made that up, but it's pretty good, right? Suffice it to say that his display of ass kicking has everyone excited and ready to bid millions.
As Manoosh takes a snack break backstage, Chuck resolves to control his asset and reveals himself as a CIA agent that wants to stop him from making a huge mistake. Straight away, the Ring comes busting in to collect their weapon. They lock Chuck, Sarah, and Casey up, but luckily Casey couldn't help himself from shopping and bought a laser pen that can burn through anything. Without making anyone a eunuch, they laser themselves out of the room. In a standoff with the Ring, Chuck flashes on a ninja star prompting a series of events that leads to the Ring's defeat. Chuck lets Manoosh go after an impassioned speech about keeping quiet about everything, but eventually Chuck thinks better of it and tranqs Manoosh before he can walk outside.
In the end, they send Manoosh away to a secured isolation facility for his and the public's safety. As they take him away, Chuck clarifies that he was never Manoosh's friend but was always a spy. Chuck has burned his first asset, and it seems not even a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black can make it all better.
Other Tasty Treats
- Hannah's an official Nerd Herder, and thanks to Jeff and Lester, we find that she's a classy broad that likes sushi with chopsticks and without the rice, classical music, French cinema, and foreign films.
- Lester wants a wife. He'd like a woman of color, preferably Padma Lakshmi.
- Morgan has a little crush on Hannah. And while the office makeover was an interesting move to get her to notice him, it's the secret about Chuck's trip to Paris that has Morgan concerned.
- Ellie and Morgan! Seems these two are determined to unlock this giant web of conspiracy and deception that Chuck has been spinning.
- Chuck's growing up. He's quite the cold-blooded liar, and now that he's burned an asset, is it a good thing that he's on his way to becoming a spy?
- The picture of Chuck on Sarah's Blackberry? Precious.
Casey-isms
"Don't get too cocky, Bartowski. One misch does not an agent make."
"Great, two geeks in a pod."
"Another geek bites the dust."
"Just like Bartowski, bringing a knife to a gun fight."
