As Chuck returns to TV screens come September 29 on NBC for its sophomore season, it has already been reported how the spy-comedy will feature a lot of guests.  For one, Nicole Richie will appear in an October episode as a mean girl to the lead's friend from CIA Sarah Walker, played by Yvonne Strahovski.  Jordana Brewster will also be gracing Chuck for a multi-episode arc as an ex-flame of Chuck.

More casting news as Entertainment Weekly revealed that Morgan Fairchild and Bruce Boxleitner have just been cast as the parents of Ryan McPartlin's Captain Awesome.

Fairchild, 58, won an Emmy for her role in a Murphy Brown episode, plus guest appearances on Friends and Saturday Night Live.  In 2006, she was a character cast member of the My Network TV series Fashion House, where she played Sophia Blakely, a rival to Bo Derek's character, Maria Gianni.  She will play Dr. Honey Woodcombe, who arrives in time to play her son's wedding to Chuck's sister Ellie.

Meanwhile, Boxleitner, 58, who recently joined the cast of Heroes' third season and plays a senator, will play Dr. Honey's husband, Dr. Woody Woodcombe, who also becomes very excited to welcome Ellie into his family.

Chuck aired for only 13 episodes on its debut season.  It was crated by Josh Schwartz, the force behind Gossip Girl and The O.C.  When we left Chuck, Captain Awesome just asked Chuck if he could propose to his sister.  Meanwhile, Sarah and Casey discover that they are being spied on, while Chuck himself is in danger of being abducted to a permanent holding cell because of all the secrets in his brain.  According to the Schwartz, the season 2 premiere will be a perfect juncture for those who haven’t seen the show to start seeing it as it is a perfect jump-off point.
