Perez Hilton, a finalist on
Celebrity Rap Superstar, has denied that he reported that DJ Samantha Ronson was responsible for planting cocaine in Lindsay Lohan's car on the night of her first DUI bust in May. Hilton made his statement in response to the libel lawsuit Ronson filed against him and CelebrityBabylon.com moderator Jill Ishkanian in July.
Ronson, who was with Lohan on the night police found a “usable amount” of cocaine in her car, claims in the lawsuit that Hilton and Ishkanian implied she purposely put the drugs in the vehicle and sold incriminating pictures of Lohan to the paparazzi the following night. The defamatory story was allegedly printed first in Ishkanian's site, after which Hilton is said to have reprinted it on his celebrity blog on June 1.
Perez Hilton's attorney, Bryan J. Freedman, filed a document on Wednesday, September 19, saying the statements Hilton made did not imply Ronson had planted the drugs.
"Rather, the statements were that Ronson was the one who was holding the cocaine later found in Lindsay's car [and that] the cocaine that was found in Lohan's car after her crash may have been Ronson's," the document reads.
"If Ronson was not holding the cocaine, who was?" Freedman wrote. "Also, if the cocaine did not belong to Ronson, whose cocaine did the police find?"
With regards to the photographs that Ronson supposedly sold to the press, Freedman said, "Rather, the statement was that Ronson allegedly entered into an agreement with a photo agency to tip them off to her whereabouts with Lindsay, even creating photo-ops for them."
Although Ronson's does not exactly deny having made an agreement with paparazzi in her complaint, she did file an affidavit on September 13 saying she did not place drugs in Lohan's car.
"I never placed cocaine next to Lindsay Lohan in a car," Ronson stated. "I am not a drug user. I never arranged for a photographer to take photographs of Lindsay Lohan while she was in a car."
There will be a hearing tomorrow on the defendants' motion to dismiss the suit.
Although Perez Hilton is currently facing legal troubles for his celebrity blog, he continues to do well on
Celebrity Rap Superstar. At this time, only five contestants remain, namely Hilton,
Shar Jackson,
Sebastian Bach, Countess Vaugh and
Kendra Wilkinson (
The Girls Next Door).
Celebrity Rap Superstar airs Thursdays at 10pm.
