Actress and comedian Lori Ann Rambough, more popularly known as
Sommore, was born on May 15, 1966 in Trenton, New Jersey. She is the half-sister of
Third Watch actress Nia Long
Sommore was seen on two UPN sitcoms. She was Olivia Radcliffe on
The Parkers and Keshia on
The Hughleys. She was also the first female host for BET's
Comicview and also hosted an episode of
Live at Gotham. In the big screen, she played the roles Cookie on
Friday After Next, Stephanie on
A Miami Tale, Cherry on
Soul Plane and Abby on
Dirty Laundry. She was seen as herself on the romantic comedy
Something New and was part of the video entitled
Blunts & Stunts: Class of 94.
She is the highest grossing comedienne in the U.S. and was featured on
The Oprah Winfrey Show. Oprah described her as “a force to be reckoned with in the new millennium.” She guest-starred on
The Jay Lennon Show, Def Comedy Jam and
Heroes of Comedy: Women on Top.
Sommore starred in the Q
ueens of Comedy tour together with comediennes Mo'Nique, Laura Hayes and Adele Givens. It was filmed and aired on Showtime. Eventually, a copy of it was released in DVD format.
In 1995, she won Comic of the Year award at the Richard Pryor Awards.
In Atlanta, Georgia, she performed to 50,000 audience and was listed on the Guinness Book of World Records for her feat.
Sommore is one of the new participants on VH1's reality TV series
Celebrity Fit Club: Boot Camp. The show divides the 8 contestants into two groups and the teams are given several physical challenges every week. Each members are also weighed regularly to see if they achieved their target goal weights. A team composed of a nutritionist, a psychologist and a physical trainer oversees the participants.
