Originally from New York, Jonathan Levit moved with his family to Tehran, Iran when he was three and only going back to the US in 1979. He was introduced to magic when he was eight, when he found some old magic trick paraphernalia in the basement of his house. It belonged to his father who was himself a successful magician when he was young. At age 12, he performed his first magic trick on stage. In the same year, he appeared on The Sally Jessy Raphael Show, alongside David Copperfield.
Levit went on to major in advertising, philosophy, speech and theater in Syracuse University in New York. While in college, Levit also dabbled on production, producing shows on and off campus and casting talented people for various performances. In 1997, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue professional acting. After some formal training, he landed his first television role on The X-Files, only the first of the string of shows, commercials, and films Levit would do. While acting, hosting, or doing voice-over roles, he never forgot his passion for magic, as he often performed at the World Famous Magic Castle in Hollywood.
Levit hosts the VH1 reality series Celebracadabra, where celebrities are taught different forms of magic by veteran magicians. Each week, the celebrities are judged and one gets eliminated, en route to a grade prize of $100,000.
