Castle season 5 continues on Monday, May 6 with an episode called "The Human Factor." Check out the synopsis and sneak peek videos below and find out what happens when the team fights for a murder case with a mysterious federal operative.

First up, let's take a look at the official synopsis for the episode from ABC:

"The Human Factor" - When Homeland Security inexplicably seals the crime scene of a car bombing, Castle and Beckett find themselves with two mysteries on their hands: who murdered the victim, a government whistleblower, and why are federal agents trying to take over the case? The plot thickens when they discover that the victim wasn't killed by a car bomb but by a missile from a military drone, on "Castle," Monday, May 6 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on ABC. Carlos Bernard guest stars as Jared Stack, a mysterious operative who may hold the key to solving the case.

In the first sneak peek video from the episode, we find the team looking over evidence for the case when (no surprise here) Castle comes up with a wild theory about what could have happened to the drone.

Here are a few more things we know from watching the video:

  • There was no way the pilot was faking the panic or the pants-soiling move the drone did before it crashed.
  • Castle believes the drone itself took over flying, like Rise of the Machines.
  • According to Castle, the machines have achieved consciousness and they are pissed.
  • Unfortunately evidence proves that Castle's theory is wrong, but they are looking for one very skilled hacker.

In the second sneak peek video from the episode, we find Castle and Beckett peacefully sleeping when suddenly Castle is woken up by a strange noise and discovers a mini robot in the bed. Have the machines truly come to get them?

Here are a few more things we know from watching the video:

  • One sure-fire was to get Castle out of bed quickly is to chase him out with a tiny robot.
  • Castle is pretty handy with a baseball bat.
  • Beckett is an evil genius and I love her for setting up Castle. Her hysterical laughter was awesome.
  • Beckett has photographic proof of how Castle reacted to the threat, no matter how hard he tries to claim his bravery.

In the third sneak peek of the episode, we find Castle and Beckett discussing the case once again. Castle wonders if the military could have taken their victim out, but Beckett doesn't believe they're that efficient. When Beckett asks where Castle's theories are about the military industrial complex, Castle somberly replies that he doesn't want to believe that his country could do something like that.

What do you think now that you've read the synopsis and seen the preview video from this episode of Castle? Do you think the military could be involved in the case?

Castle airs on Monday nights at 10pm on ABC.
