Big changes are coming to some of your favorite TV shows, including a departure on Castle and a demotion on Nashville. In other casting news, an actor known for High School Musical has been hired on The Fosters, another original Heroes cast member is returning for Reborn (along with another newbie), another actor has signed on for Chicago Med and there’s some exciting news regarding Yvette Nicole Brown and Community. Read on for all the details.

Penny Johnson Jerald Leaving Castle

There’s some sad news to report for fans of Castle. Penny Johnson Jerald, who has played Captain Gates on the ABC drama, will not be returning to the show for season 8.

The actress tweeted the announcement: “To my Castle fans around the world, as of late yesterday I am surprised and saddened to learn that I will no longer be a part of the Castle family. Thank you all for your support and love. Hugs from PJJ.”

As you can see, she has made it clear that it was not her decision to leave the series. Jerald joined Castle in 2011. At least Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic will be back.

Eric Close No Longer a Series Regular on Nashville

We won’t be seeing as much of Teddy when Nashville returns for season 4 in the fall. TVLine is reporting that Eric Close, who plays the mayor, is being demoted and will no longer be a series regular. This change is being done in order to put the focus of the show more on the music industry storylines.

Based on what viewers saw in the season 3 finale, it make sense since Teddy was put in handcuffs and heading to jail.

But he’s not being cut out of the picture completely. TVLine notes that he’ll likely return as a guest star.

Chris Warren on The Fosters

Get ready to see a new face on The Fosters in season 3. Chris Warren, known for his role as Zeke in High School Musical, is set to recur as a character named Ty. The Hollywood Reporter describes him as someone who has aged out of the system and ends up being separated from his brother.

Season 3 of The Fosters premieres June 3 at 8pm on ABC Family.

Sendhil Ramamurthy Returning for Heroes Reborn

At first, Jack Coleman was the only original Heroes star coming back for Reborn, but eventually Masi Oka, Greg Grunberg and Jimmy Jean-Louis signed on as well. Now we’re hearing that another original cast member will return.

Sendhil Ramamurthy is set to reprise his role as Dr. Mohinder Suresh when Heroes Reborn airs in the fall on NBC, according to Deadline. If you’ll recall, Suresh, a geneticist, was trying to figure out what happened with the murder of his father, and he also investigated people who had superpowers.

And when it comes to the new cast members, Nazneen Contractor has been cast as a mysterious character named Farah, who’s being described by Deadline as “militant, tough and stoic.” She joins other newbies Zachary Levi, Gatlin Green and Ryan Guzman.

Arrow Alum Joining Chicago Med

NBC will debut a new Chicago Fire spin-off next season — set in a Chicago hospital, naturally — and another cast member has now signed on. Colin Donnell, who Arrow fans will remember as Tommy, is joining Chicago Med as a series regular, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

We don’t know at this time who he will be playing or what kinds of storylines he’ll be involved in, but he’ll be starring alongside Oliver Platt, S. Epatha Merkerson, Laurie Holden, Nick Gehlfuss and Yaya DaCosta.

Yvette Nicole Brown Guest Starring on Community

If you’ve missed seeing Yvette Nicole Brown on Community, then you’ll be excited by this news. The actress will be making a guest starring appearance in the comedy’s season 6 finale. She departed the series after NBC cancelled the show and was subsequently picked up by Yahoo.

According to Yahoo Screen via Zap2It, the finale episode will see Abed asking “everyone to imagine pitching a TV show about what they would do in season 7.”
