Castle season 5 continues on Monday, February 18 with an episode called "Target." The episode is the first of a two-episode arc and judging from the synopsis and preview videos below, it looks like it will be another tense installment in the series.

First up, here is the official synopsis of the episode from ABC.

In the first of a two-episode story arc, Castle & Beckett begin a murder investigation that also exposes a plot to kidnap the daughter of a wealthy Middle Eastern businessman. Dylan Walsh (Nip/Tuck) guest stars as FBI Agent Harris, an even-keeled professional brought in to help find the kidnappers.

In the first preview video for the episode, we find Castle, Beckett, Ryan and Esposito standing over their latest victim. What appears at first to be a standard murder quickly becomes anything but as they continue to gather more facts about the case.

Here are a few more things we know from watching the video:

  • Their victim was hit by a car and knocked right out of his shoes.
  • Their victim was killed by a serious shooter.
  • Their victim went to Columbia, a fact that makes Castle extremely nervous for his daughter.

In the second preview video, Ryan brings the team in to watch some footage they found of the vehicle involved in the murder. As they watch, they see that the case has become even more complicated that they thought.

Here are a few more things we know from watching the video:

  • The look on Ryan's face when he asks the team to follow him spoke volumes about what they were about to see.
  • What looks like a murder was actually a kidnapping gone awry.
  • Their original victim was trying to stop the kidnapping of a young girl.

In the final preview video for the episode, Castle and Beckett are doing some standard questioning to find out more about heir kidnapping victim when some very startling news comes up.

Here are a few more things we know from watching the video:

  • When Castle discovers their victim and Alexis were friends, he is immediately pleased that they'll have some help with the case.
  • Castle calls Alexis only to find that her phone is still in the building and that was found the previous night on the street.
  • Alexis was kidnapped too!!!!

What do you think now that you've seen the clips and synopsis from this episode of Castle? Something tells me this isn't going to be a typical light-hearted episode, but a much more serious one. How will the investigation change once they find out that Alexis was kidnapped?

Castle airs on Monday nights at 10pm on ABC.
