Born on March 8, 1959 in Rockford, Illinois, Aidan Quinn was raised in Chicago, Rockford and Dublin, Offaly. At the age of 19, he began acting in the Chicago theater, and was trained at Piven Theater Workshop. His first major film role was in Reckless in 1984, where he played Johnny Rourke. This was followed by a breakthrough role in Desperately Seeking Susan, as Rosanna Arquette's love interest, Dez. He also starred in the television movie An Early Frost, where he played Michael Pierson, a role that earned him his first Emmy Award nomination. In the 1990s, Quinn worked on films Legends of the Fall, The Handmaid's Tale, Michael Collins and Evelyn. In 2000, he returned to television with VH1's Two of Us. He also took the lead role in the short lived NBC drama, The Book of Daniel. Quinn later received his second Emmy nomination for his work on Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee in 2007. In the same year, he was cast for the FOX series, Canterbury's Law as Matt Furey.
Matt Furey is played by Aidan Quinn on the new FOX series, Canterbury's Law. A law professor, Matt is the husband of Elizabeth, a fiery attorney with whom he shares a grief of mysteriously losing a son. Together with his wife, they moved from their former residence and settled in Providence, Rhode Island where Elizabeth works with a team of brilliant crew of attorneys. Together, they solve the mysteries surrounding them, and hopefully uncover the mystery of their missing son.
