Heading the cast as Elizabeth Canterbury is Julianna Marguiles. The 41-year-old actress is most known for her role on the long-running drama series,
ER. She stayed with the show for six years, after which she took on guest roles in other hit shows like Scrubs and
The Sopranos. Her film credits include
Snakes on a Plane, Ghost Ship and
Beautiful Ohio.
To play Marguilles’ onscreen husband is Linus Roache. Roache will appear on the show as law professor Matthew Canterbury. Roache, an English actor, has done extensive work in both small and big screens. Among his most notable acting projects are
Coronation Street, The Forgotten, Batman Begins, Pandaemonium, Kidnapped and
Hart’s War.
Attorney Russell Cross, who was fired from the Providence District Attorney’s Office for confronting his dishonest boss, will be played by Ben Shenkman. Shenkman began his acting career by taking on small roles in a variety of movies, such as
Eraser, The Siege, Pi and
Jesus’ Son. His breakthrough role in television was Louis Ironson in
Angels of America.
Rounding out the cast are Keith Robinson and Trieste Dunn. Robinson (
American Dreams,
Monk) plays Chester Fields, a congressman’s son who has veered away from politics. Originally, actor Jocko Sims was cast in the role of Chester, but in June, FOX brought in Robinson as a replacement. Dunn is set to play Molly McConnell.
Canterbury’s Law will air every Thursday at 9pm on FOX.
