Emmy nominee Aidan Quinn lands a role on Canterbury's LawCanterbury's Law, an upcoming drama series from FOX, has expanded its cast with the addition of Emmy-nominated actor Aidan Quinn.

On the new legal drama, Quinn will play Matt Furey, husband of lead female character, Elizabeth Canterbury, (Julianna Margulies).  Quinn's Matt is an Assistant U.S. Attorney who becomes a law professor following the mysterious disappearance of his son.

Aidan Quinn is taking over Linus Roache, who played the role in the original pilot.  Roache left Canterbury's Law in order to take another acting gig on NBC's Law & Order.

Executive-produced by Denis Leary (Rescue Me), Jim Serpico and Walon Green, Canterbury's Law revolves around the couple as they try to settle into their new life in Providence, Rhode Island.  Margulies' Elizabeth continues to work as an attorney, and the demanding job puts more strain on her marriage.

The cast also includes Ben Shenkman (Pi, Angels in America) as Russell Cross, Trieste Dunn (United 93) as Molly McConnell and Keith Robinson (American Dreams, Monk) as Chester Fields.

Aidan Quinn was most recently seen in the HBO original film, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.  He played former Republican U.S. Senator and Representative Henry Dawes, and his portrayal earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie.  This is the second Emmy nod of his career, having been first recognized in 1986 for his work on the made-for-tv movie, An Early Frost.

His other notable acting credits include Legends of the Fall, Practical Magic, Desperately Seeking Susan, Third Watch, Nine Lives and Return to Sender.  He also starred on the short-lived drama series, The Book of Daniel.

According to the broadcast network's tentative long-term scheduling plans, Canterbury's Law is scheduled to begin airing sometime in January.  The series is also expected to fill in the 9pm Thursday night timeslot.
