Born on December 1, 1967 in New York City, Nestor Carbonell was educated at Harvard University. His father is an active in the Cuban-American community and has also held senior positions at Pepsi. Carbonell is most known for his role as Luis Rivera on the sitcom Suddenly Susan, and has had recurring roles on series such as Resurrection Blvd., The Tick, Strong Medicine, Kim Possible, and Cold Case. He guest starred in Scrubs, House, and Day Break, and currently plays Richard Alpert in Lost and Frank Duque in Cane. In 2007, Carbonell was cast to play the mayor of Gotham City in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight, Batman Begin's (2005) sequel.

Frank Duque is played by Nestor Carbonell on the television series Cane. Frank is one of the children of Panchito Duque, a wealthy businessman engaged in the rum and sugar trade. Frank is an impulsive man who loses focus while chasing women, unlike his brother in law Alex, a family man who loves his wife and honors his parents. Cane follows the secrets and mysteries surrounding the wealthy family and their adversaries in this television drama.
