caneAfter the appearance of Kristin Cavallari (Laguna Beach) and Nicole Scherzinger of The Pussycat Dolls, fans of Cane can expect to see yet another celebrity to guest star on the drama series.  R&B and soul singer Alicia Keys is also set to grace the CBS show created by Cynthia Cidre.

Keys, who has sold over 20 million albums worldwide and has won numerous awards, including nine Grammys, 11 Billboard Music Awards and three American Music Awards, will be playing herself in the upcoming episode of Cane but will be doing some flirting with Henry Duque, who is portrayed by Eddie Matos.

The 27-year-old recording artist has already acted in films like The Nanny Diaries and Smokin' Aces, but on the set of Cane, it was her voice that proved to be the most powerful force. While filming her scene, she took the stage to sing “No One,” a cut from her new album that will be released next month.  The cast and crew of Cane burst into applause after Keys sat at the piano and showed the same awe-inspiring talent that made her an award-winning singer for albums like Songs in A Minor and Diary.

Getting a bunch of music stars on Cane is something that greatly appeals to the cast and crew of the show, and record companies as well.  The idea is to have them perform in Miami, specifically at the Duque club, and also serve as a marketing vehicle to promote new recordings.

Hector Elizondo, who plays patriarch Pancho Duque, believes that the music is a very important aspect of the show.

“It's not a novelty bit just thrown in.  The music is almost like another character, creating a mood, adding to the drama and giving off energy,” Elizondo said.

Fans can catch a new episode of Cane every Tuesday at 10pm ET/PT on CBS.
