While we all know the Jonas Brothers can make teenage girls scream, little did we know that they can make them scream for nearly two hours straight.
The teenage sensation and stars of the Disney original TV movie
Camp Rock, dubbed by fans as the ‘world's hottest boys' had thousands of kids experiencing the biggest night of their summer when the pop-rock trio took the stage at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater Tuesday, July 29.
Another
Camp Rock star opened the act for the Jonas Brothers. Demo Lovato, 15, who was introduced in the Disney Channel movie as Mitchie Torres, warmed up the crowd composed mostly of screaming youngsters and their parents.
Meanwhile, fellow hit-maker and Grammy-nominated rock singer Avril Lavigne quickly followed the act with her signature 2007 hit “Girlfriend.” Everything in the set from her Telecasters to her mic stand was dotted with pink glitter. It's of interest how she didn't perform some songs of hers with adult materials to stay wholesome for the kids. Her 40-minute set also included “I Can Do Better,” “Complicated,” “I'm With You,” before finally closing with “Sk8er Boi.”
It was then when the venue erupted in wild cheers, when the Jonas Brothers' band consisting of eight female string players, a guitarist, drummer, keyboardist, and bassist, went on stage to do a percussion rendition of “We Will Rock You.” It was then when the boys – Nick, Joe, and Kevin – were lifted from under the set to the stage as they performed “That's Just the Way We Roll.” As expected, the crowd went wild, rendering most parts of the song practically inaudible. They then performed “Hold On” and “BB Good” and “Video Girl” from their new album.
The Jonases also performed a clip off
Camp Rock called “Gotta Find You” with two cellists. Joe picked a girl in the audience to join them on the chorus before Lovato went on stage to sing “This is Me.”
