And just when I thought Glee couldn't get any more surprising, they pull off another one.

Joss Whedon has signed on to direct one of the back nine episodes of the hit musical comedy (or whatever-you-call-it-nowadays) series, Entertainment Weekly reports.  The man who gave us a musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and made Neil Patrick Harris sing in Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is, apparently a gleek like us, too, so having him direct an episode was just a matter of scheduling.

"Joss directed one of the great musical episodes in the history of television on Buffy," Glee creator Ryan Murphy said.  "This is a great, if unexpected, fit.  I'm thrilled he'll be loaning us his fantastic groundbreaking talent."

And no, that doesn't mean Joss' other series, Dollhouse, is on its way to the door: reports say he is expected to tackle the Glee episode once shooting for the Eliza Dushku-fronted series' second season wraps up.  (Not to mention, hey, Dollhouse fans, this is a good opportunity for cross-promotion.  Dichen Lachman's wish for Twitter users to push Dollhouse the way it pushed Glee is one step closer to reality, seems.)

This news comes at the back of another casting coup: Lea Michele's Spring Awakening co-star, Jonathan Groff, has signed on for at least five episodes of the series.

Now, I'll admit I haven't seen either Buffy or Dr. Horrible--okay, hit me--but I'm pretty pumped for this, too.  Question, gleeks: who do you want to see in this episode?  What do you want to happen in this episode?  (Funnily, Joss was hinting, jokingly, that he'll kill off Principal Figgins.)

And, better yet, what songs do you want to hear?  I'm already hearing Sarah Michelle Gellar and Neil Patrick Harris' names being tossed around.  But you know better than I do.  Whedon-heads, gleeks, and music lovers alike, I ask you this: thoughts?
