The season finale of
Brothers & Sisters left us hanging with an unexpected shocker, and I'm not talking about the story line that bordered on incest. The final episode of season 2 informed us that the late William Walker fathered an illegitimate son named Ryan, who is out in the world somewhere just waiting to be discovered. We can only assume that he'll play a major role in the series when season 3 kicks off in the fall.
Today,
The Hollywood Reporter announced that actors
Eric Christian Olsen (
The Loop) and
Will McCormack (
Dirt) will be joining
Brothers & Sisters as recurring characters when it returns for its third season. Though neither actor is listed as a Walker family member, could one of them secretly be the long lost Ryan?

It's not technically incest, but it sort of feels like it. They refer to the Rebecca - Justin relationship....

I absolutely love this show! Everyone is so great. I just started watching it towards the end. I did not...
Both Olsen and McCormack will be playing business associates of Sarah (
Rachel Griffiths), and one of them will likely end up as her new love interest. My bet is that Olsen's character will fill the romantic role, if only because the actor resembles a younger version of Sarah's ex-husband, Joe. I'm not sure if having a dalliance with another business associate is a wise move for the character after the troubles Ojai Foods faced in season 2, but we'll just have to see how it plays out.
As for McCormack, who is not to be confused with
Will & Grace star
Eric McCormack, he certainly looks like he could be a member of the Walker clan. While I have no reason to believe that he'll be playing Ryan, it's always a possibility. When they do decide to cast the role, I have a feeling the producers will try to throw us off with some false information. Claiming that an actor is playing one of Sarah's business associates would be a perfect cover.
We'll find out if my wild conspiracy theories have any merit when
Brothers & Sisters returns to ABC in the fall.
