Rob Lowe Considering Politics Thanks to 'Brothers and Sisters'
Playing Republican Senator Robert McAllister for four seasons on Brothers and Sisters must have had quite an effect on actor Rob Lowe.  It's obvious he truly enjoys portraying that character of his on TV, but is it really a surprise that that might take over his career?

Lowe told The Press Association that he hasn't quite ruled out the option of going into politics.  Apparently, it's not just the role that's driven him to think about working in that field; he just really likes the whole environment and the challenges it brings.

"I don't rule it out because I love politics, that's why I'm drawn to these roles - but who knows what the future holds?" Rob Lowe explained, hinting at how he wanted his acting career to branch out into reality.

Unfortunately for him, there's one major obstacle that he's facing.  The thing with achieving that sort of dream is the need to be accepted by the public.  While Rob Lowe is welcomed as an actor, the title of "politician" still eludes him.

"Nobody would have me," the Brothers and Sisters star said.  Too bad though, maybe he should stick to just letting his art imitate life - like using real heroes to embody his role on the show.

"I base McCallister on a couple of men in my life who are achievers at a very high level," Lowe declared.  "They are very complicated guys and they are a handful.  To get where they want to be there is this sort of selfishness about them.  They need that to succeed."

While he does look up to very powerful men, Rob Lowe doesn't exactly need that in succeeding with his career.  He's already very driven himself, landing plenty of roles on both the big and small screen.

Other than working on the fourth season of Brothers and Sisters, he's also starring alongside Ricky Gervais in the comedy The Invention of Lying.  Even though he's not heading to the vicious world of politics yet, there's bound to be a lot of major projects to keep Rob Lowe busy in the equally wild realm of the entertainment industry.
