The Walker family is watching primary coverage, keeping track of the confusing delegate counts. Nora (Sally Field) cuddles with Isaac, Sarah sleeps with Graham and David and Holly (Patricia Wettig) make out like teenagers, but are caught by Justin and Rebecca. Robert McAllister (Rob Lowe) wins California but loses New York. He steps out onto a stage and withdraws from the race. What an abrupt end to a great storyline.

I do wish they'd move the Saul scandal along a bit faster though, as that's been sloooowly playing out all ...

Agreed, any scene with the Walkers all together, or the Walkers talking on the phone, is fantastic.

This was a pretty great episode. You gotta love those Walker family get-togethers.
Then the show skips forward three months, the Brothers and Sisters way of acknowledging the writers' strike. Robert and Kitty (Calista Flockhart) are in a doctor's office for a little artificial insemination preparation. Kitty wants to celebrate with her mom and Isaac, but Robert warns that Isaac is planning a special dinner alone. Isaac has been staying at the Walker house and Nora is upset to read on a conservative blog that he accepted a professorship in Washington D.C. Since his cover is blown, he asks her to move with him across the county.
The Walker family phone tree is set ablaze with Sarah (Rachel Griffiths) and Kitty wondering if their mom will move. Saul (Ron Rifkin) doesn't think she will. Sarah calls Tommy and Kevin to inform them, and they call in Justin. None of the boys thinks it's going to happen. Also, everyone is preparing for Rebecca's big birthday bash.
At Isaac's special dinner, Tommy (Balthazar Getty) walks in to interrupt with a lame cover story about golfing. Isaac shows Nora his sailboat. Kevin (Matthew Rhys) is up next to interrupt by staring at Isaac's photos. Sarah and Kitty make a clatter in the kitchen and Justin (Dave Annable) shows up too. The bumbling Walker children try to deny that they're spying, then act fake surprised when they learn about Isaac's invitation, though they're truly surprised when Nora accepts the offer to move across the country.
The next day, the Walker boys actually do go out golfing with Isaac, interrogating him. Isaac can't get a stroke in. Kevin asks about his finances while Tommy asks about Isaac's prostate. Isaac promises to take very good care of Nora to calm the men, who have regressed into little boys upset over losing their mommy. Back at the house, Kitty also tries to guilt Isaac into not taking Nora away, saying she needs her family around her.
Holly and Nora decide to cook for Rebecca's birthday together. They reminisce about their last experience with food, which was the awesome food fight at Tommy's winery opening. Holly suggests not cooking and getting the food from a store. The topic turns to David, Holly's photographer boyfriend who is probably Rebecca's real dad. Speaking of, David gives Rebecca an early birthday present, a beautiful necklace.
At the party, Tommy has concerns about Sarah mixing business with pleasure regarding Graham. Holly sees Rebecca's new necklace and is uneasy because it belonged to David's mom (information that Justin overhears). Isaac and Robert watch news coverage, and Robert is still sad over his failed campaign, though he wants to keep a secret from Kitty. Kevin is upset to see the store-bought food.
The family gathers for the birthday toast, which devolves into accusations about Nora abandoning her children. Nora guilts her kids by saying Rebecca is actually nice to her mom's new boyfriend. Kitty raises the issue that Nora might be avoiding her loneliness from William's death, and all the kids start talking at once. Nora shuts them up and says she's leaving to get away from her constantly complaining children, and that, for the first time, she's doing something just for her.
Once everyone leaves, Nora and Kitty have a heart-to-heart in which they both apologize for their stubbornness. By the end, Kitty tells her mom to do whatever she wants, but then begs her to stay. Isaac shows up and he realizes that Nora can't go with him. After he leaves, Nora eats dinner, alone.
In the Harper house, David asks Holly to be honest about Rebecca's parentage, and she admits there's a chance she could be David's. Holly wants to leave it alone for Rebecca's sake. Rebecca is enjoying some cake with Justin, who lets it slip that the necklace belonged to David's mom. Rebecca is still suspicious, though she isn't sure she wants to learn that her life as a Walker is a lie. Justin agrees to go with her, so they take some of David's razor clippings to a DNA testing facility.
Sarah decides that she can't do business with Graham because her personal issues are clouding her judgment. Saul promises to take care of it.
And in the best news of the episode, McAllister gets a call from the Taylor campaign, most likely about offering the vice presidential spot. Kitty is worried because she wants to start a family with him.
Next week on
Brothers and Sisters: Robert is offered the vice president nomination, Rebecca finds out if she's a walker, and countless other secrets are revealed. As they are in every episode of
Brothers and Sisters.
Do you want Robert to run for VP?
