It’s common nowadays for stars to parade their relationships with fellow Hollywood celebrities, but
Brothers & Sisters actress
Emily VanCamp has decided to remain silent about her supposed romance with costar
Dave Annable, saying that she has learned her lesson when it comes to talking candidly about her love life.
“It's such a bizarre thing in this industry, how affected your relationships with people can be by the media. It's just not fun. It adds strain where it doesn't need to be,” VanCamp told
TV Guide. “It's not necessary to talk about it, really, and I don't want to be someone who has people think about me and my relationships [rather than] what I do for a living.”
While Emily VanCamp is reluctant to share details of her relationship with Annable, there is a clear connection between them onscreen, especially since their characters, half-siblings Rebecca Harper and Justin Walker, are starting to become very good friends.
The same cannot be said for Rebecca’s relationship with old buddy Lena (Emily Rose), who embarks on an adulterous affair with another Walker sibling, Tommy (
Balthazar Getty), before becoming romantically involved with Justin.
“They were high-school friends, but Rebecca probably values her relationship with family so much more than her relationship with Lena, especially given what Lena's been doing,” VanCamp told
TV Guide. “She needs a slap in the face, you know? Once everything comes out, there's not much to salvage. That's not a friendship Rebecca needs to save.”
While it seems VanCamp’s Rebecca still has some issues to iron out with Lena, she is becoming more and more a part of the Walkers. VanCamp said that Rebecca getting invited to Kitty (Calista Flockhart) and Robert’s (Rob Lowe) wedding is a wonderful way of including her in the family.
“I'm not really causing any trouble at the wedding. [Rebecca’s] behaving herself,” VanCamp said. “The wedding itself is beautifully played by Rob and Calista. She looks absolutely beautiful, and I can't wait for everyone to see it. It's a romantic, very beautiful episode.”
As for what viewers can expect from her character in the forthcoming episodes, Emily VanCamp said that she is beginning to “find a life of her own. She's on a quest to find her own passions, and that's exciting for me to do.”
