After claiming that Peter Clements had the nerve to have sex on their bed with third parties and throw parties when the family was out of town,
Rob Lowe and wife Sheryl have decided to drop the defamation lawsuit against their former chef.
Emotional distress, defamation, breach of contract and trespass were all part of the lawsuit that the Lowes filed on April 7 against Clements. In addition to aforementioned claims, the
Brothers & Sisters actor also claimed that their former chef stole from their medicine cabinet and stole their food.
Lowe, who plays senator Robert McCallister on
Brothers & Sisters, immediately dismissed the charges after Clements presented the couple with "accurate information," according to court papers.
"Once Peter Clements provided Rob and Sheryl Lowe with accurate information, the Lowes willingly dismissed their claims against him without cost to either side," the papers said, though it did not disclose what sort of information he provided.
On the other hand, a source close to the
Brothers & Sisters actor told
People that that the couple filed the suit as part of a larger counteroffensive strategy after being told that Clements was backing two former nannies complaining of sexual harassment against the Lowes. You can read more about
the lawsuit against the two former nannies in this article. After Clements later told the Lowes that they were misinformed, and that he had nothing to say about the nannies' allegations, the Lowes filed dismissal papers on Friday in Santa Barbara Superior Court.
The nannies' attorney, Gloria Allred, said Lowe's dismissal of the lawsuit will "blow up in his face."
"Whatever Mr. Lowe has attempted to cook up smells bad and will leave a lasting bad taste in his attempts to go after two innocent nannies who loved and cared for his children," she said.
