While Emily VanCamp has established herself under the spotlight for her roles in A Different Loyalty, Everwood, and Brothers & Sisters, the 21-year-old actress is also trying to pursue life on the other side of the lens.

Ever since she became part of the drama series Everwood, VanCamp has been showered with advice by helpful directors as she tries to pursue photography.  What started out as a pastime on the set of the series that catapulted her to stardom has now become profound hobby that she takes seriously.

VanCamp joined the cast of Brothers & Sisters as a regular late in the first season, a move that marks her second team-up with Executive Producer Greg Berlanti, who is also credited for Everwood.  Although she was eventually swamped with work, she still found time during the first season, and the break before the second season to travel to Cambodia and Thailand to take pleasure in capturing the splendor of the things around her.

"I love photography, and I've always been very captivated by just the art of seeing basically," VanCamp said.  "I see things, and I want to document them."

While she takes pleasure in photography, she also continues to enjoy her role on Brothers & Sisters where she plays Rebecca Harper, the daughter of late William Walker (Tom Skerritt) and his mistress, Holly Harper (Patricia Wettig), whose existence has been kept secret for 20 years.

VanCamp has found herself attracted to her character simply because it differs from her role on Everwood.  She even describes Rebecca as "a little bit tougher, less sort of homegrown country gal."

"She's really complicated, which is really cool because as an actress, I get to layer this character with all kinds of different story lines and past experiences that I think she's had and different feelings that she's had in her life," VanCamp said.  "It's pretty cool as an actress."

At present, much is still unknown about Rebecca's background, but the mystery enables VanCamp to have a lot of storylines to explore.

"There is a lot that I have to sort of figure out for myself, which makes it interesting because I don't really even think they know where Rebecca comes from or what her background is," she said.  "I kind of make it up in my mind and draw my own conclusions from it."
